While my Ugly Cry Unfiltered Blog is my testimony in itself, here is a brief overview of my background:
Educational and Professional Background:
Aside from the year I lived in Texas and North Carolina while in the 7th grade, I was educated by the Buffalo Public School system growing up. In 2009, I graduated from a vocational high school where I majored in carpentry. I attended Erie Community College and attained an associates degree in Engineering Science in 2012. Throughout high school and community college, I worked part-time and volunteered in the community. I transferred to the University of Akron (UA) and attained my bachelors degree in Civil Engineering in 2015. While at UA, I was active in many student organizations such as: American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Society of Women Engineers(SWE), and The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). I helped lead NSBE at my school and on the regional level as Vice President, Programs Chair, Academic Excellence Chair and Community College Initiative Chair. I interned a total of four rotations at a construction management company and a nuclear power plant. After graduating UA, I considered attending graduate school and/or going straight to industry. Ultimately, I decided to move to California and took much needed time to develop personally and understand my purpose. I will begin my first missionary assignment, in January 2017 as a Civil Engineering Design Intern for Engineering Ministries International (eMi)! To support my mission click here.
I grew up attending Elim Christian Fellowship of Buffalo, NY under Bishop T. Anthony Bronner. I grew in faith and primarily served the church through youth dance, youth choir, and volunteering as youth bible study leader. While attending UA, I joined local churches, UA’s gospel choir (Secretary), and other Christian organizations such as: Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) and InterVarsity. When I moved to California, I stripped every unnecessary obligation from my life in order to focus on my personal growth. I wanted to succeed personally before getting deep into my career and mentorship obligations. While in California, I learned who I am, learned to love myself and received the confidence to be myself. God began to clearly reveal to me (through ugly cries) how the last 25 years of my life prepared me for a unique purpose! Through my current internship with eMi, I will continue to develop personally, culturally, and professionally.
